Miss 9 yr olds finch died yesterday. As it was a teachers strike and she was going to a friends house - I had to work- I did not tell her until I picked her up.
She has a lot of trouble with any kind of emotion:- anger, grief, pain and as she does..she screamed.
We are off to see her social worker next Tuesday, not too soon either.
She needed to see her bird so I showed her and we had a burial ceremony out the front.
She then wanted her brother and sister to react the same way as she felt. As they didn't feel too sad..she started screaming.
Her brother and sister then wanted to 'kill' their sister.
I locked my self in her room with her, and after about 1/2hr was able to get her to stop yelling and have a cuddle.
She totally freezes me out whenever she has an emotion she can't handle. If she hurts herself, she is the same. She runs to her room or under the table and screams. She won't let me ask/look/cuddle.
I worry about her and just hope in time the service I am taking her too, helps. ( She is a physiologist[?]) Her reactions are not ok.

It must be very difficult to remain on an even keel as would be emotionally draining for you as well.

Kids are all different....I`m sure they will help her as she is only young...
My Daniel is still an angry little soul...He still doesn`t know how to handle his emotions as yet...
But we all learn to manage, even if it does drive us mad...lol...
I hope they can help her it is good that you have gotten her help when she is so young.
My daughter Kathy-Lee has always had trouble with her emotions also she is now 22 and still has a problem with anger.
