HELP!!!!!

So what would you do??

Miss 9 yr old is at the dinner table..trying to get everyone's attention. 13 yr old brother has friend staying over. She is annoyed as he was talking to his friend and I was talking to Nic. She started a conversation with the pepper grinder.

She then started eating like she had absolutely no manners. Normally she is very good. She was annoying all of us by the way she was carrying on. I told her if she couldn't sit nicely at the table she could eat on the floor with the dog. She behaved worse. Nic asked who votes she goes. The boys agreed. I was ignoring her. She started squeezing her beetroot, of all things. So I took her plate and put it on the floor.

She got up and threw a glass of water at me. The glass came too.

I put her in her room.

The kids wanted to laugh. I told them it would be the last thing they would ever do. They didn't laugh.

She apologised but only because she didn't mean to throw the glass.. it slipped. She was angry with me for giving her meal to the dog ( the dog was better behaved than she was and didn't touch it..He sat waiting for permission)

I mean she is 9 yrs old..What is she going to be like as a teenager.

I have treated all the kids the same?? What went wrong???

She sat in her room and cried..She ranted how she hated me.how she was going to 'kill' herself..that she is adopted. that she will live with her father and never come back , even for her birthday..

She calmed down..I know I haven't seen the last of the gremlin that lives within...

Hello lil harry,
Oh my, she wanted the attention from you all and she wasn't getting it. Do you think it might be hormones as well? I know you said she is 9. I guess you have had a nice mother to daughter talk by now and sorted your daughter's feelings out about what she said.
Good luck and take care,
Margaret

Reading this brought back memories of my daughter Kathy she would carry on like that all the time I would like to say she grew out of it quickly but sorry that would be a lie it took years.

In fact she is only slightly better now but at least she doesn't live with me any more.

Hi lil harry,
Dear oh dear, yep they do grow out of it, usually when they have 'pups' (no pun intended) of their own.

Hello lil harry,
My goodness...you do not need pressure now before beginning your new job....I was speaking to two friends who have girls only yesterday both crying...their girls are teenagers!!!I had only sons and brothers. no daughters, no sisters...and suppose dealing with boys is somewhat different..would love to be able to offer something constructive but have not had experience rearing girls...do hope everything settles...kind regards, elizabeth

Reading what your 9 year old daughter is doing is like reading about my Daniel.....
The only advice I can offer is she is trying to get your attention in an unruly manner, is keep doing what you`re doing...Ignore her until she behaves but you must tell her this...If she refuses then a punishment is in order....Which you did do by sending her to her room....
But most of all you must keep the communication up between her and yourself....Explain what she did wrong and it`s not acceptable behaviour.....This is how my counceller has taught me how to deal with Daniel....It is working...Slowly but surely....

They forgot to tell us as parents that we need patience and lots of it...lol....You are doing the right thing lil harry....Don`t doubt yourself....Perserverence is the key....Your daughter will soon get the message that mum isn`t going to tolerate my naughtiness....

thanks everyone..OMG she is a drama queen and then some..
I tried talking to her but she wasn't having a bar of the conversation. 'I was a mean mother.'LOL.
She is grounded from the computer but she doens't get it. she thinks it was ok to throw water but not the glass.
anyway..still trying to open the doors of communication. I am hoping to get her to the centre where I took her brother over the years, this year
