Official Opening

Today was our ( works) official opening.

I was not working but I went down to watch. The NSW minister for Department of Community Services opened the Centre along with a local Indigenous member and local member of parliament.

We had a display of local youth perform native dances which was really excellent. I sat with the pre-school children who enjoyed it too but it was unfortunately very hot. All morning had been over cast and cool but the sun came out in all its glory for the 1 1/2 hours. NOw it looks like it is going to pour!

We had a smoking ceremony to clear any past spirits and to join everyone as one. It was eucalyptus leaves and smelt great. They cleared the inside of the building too and I had a moment wondering if they switched off the smoke alarms..they did.

It was a nice end to a relaxing weekend. If you call running after children all weekend relaxing?? It was great though as eldest son came home for entire weekend.He needed help with his homework but that is ok..At least he knows he can come here whenever he needs.
